:-o 9 year olds kissing :-o

Well, I guess I've dealt with about it all now (probably shouldn't say that - something worse will come along).
About two minutes before the final bell of the day, a fellow teacher (speech -so she had no students at the time) comes to me to inform me that two of my students (boy and girl) were caught kissing in the bathroom. And these two, I would have never guessed these two...some of my others, maybe...this one shocked me!
Apparently the little boy turned the corner, beat red faced and shaking his head. Three other boys were close behind ready to inform Mrs. May about what they had just witnessed. Little girl was the last to arrive on the scene ready to deny everything. Well, informants were dismissed and the little girl sent back to class (as Mrs. May put it, she was going to take some time to break down to honest). The boy was left to discuss matters with Mrs. May. He was devastated and felt so terrible. He was unaware this was not allowed and he could get into serious trouble.
Parents were called (we have yet to reach the little girls parent) and after a conversation with the little boys dad, he commented to me on how shy his son was and he was shocked his kid had the nerve to do such a thing. He said he had asked his son, "Did she want you to kiss her or did you just go for it?"

This was just too funny to me. I'm shocked though that my students are kissing - I TEACH 4th GRADE!!!

Exciting Night for Basketball

I contemplated not going to last night's game as it was 30 minutes away from the house and I knew it would be a late night. Very glad I did. It was an exciting one! I brought some work along with me and saw about 1/2 of the first half through breaks in work/breaks in the game. I felt like the kids were on fire from both sides. It seemed like the game was moving at a much faster pace than usual. Couldn't see the scoreboard easily from where I was sitting so not really sure who was up at this point. Boys looked good to me. Second half was just as exciting only I was able to pay more attention and Andrews was down. Ended the game tied so here comes overtime. Luckily they were able to pull it out in the end and Andrews won the game! It was totally one of those games where everyone was standing in the bleachers by the end of the game.
When I talked to Scott after the game he said, "Better to be lucky than good sometimes." I had thought the boys looked good all night...guess I still have a LOT to learn about basketball. :)
Below are some pictures of the great game and my wonderful husband being an excellent assistant coach. I can't wait for him to be head coach someday...it will make watching the games all that much more exciting.

Kitchen Renovations!!!

Well, we went to Lowe's today and got the ball rolling on our new counter tops. They should be calling tomorrow to hopefully come out tomorrow evening and take final measurements. Then I go back to Lowe's Wednesday or Thursday to use up all our gift cards from the wedding. Sad to see those go but they are being used for such "a good thing". The plan is for us to rip out the old tops and tile back splash ourselves (yeah, that should be an adventure - stay tuned for photos of that one) late next week. Counter tops are to be installed on Saturday, February 7th. Mom and Dad come on the 8th, Mom to go see Mama Mia with me and Dad to install our new 8.5'' deep sink and new pull out faucet (finally a sprayer that works!) and our new soap pump. Scott is really excited about the soap pump. We added the new island last week and I absolutely love it. We've freed up tons of drawer space and most of my appliances are now inside instead of in the garage!
Below are pictures of my kitchen with island and our soon to be new faucet!!!

Turning over a new leaf...

Well, I'm finally joining the blog world. Call it a "New Year's Resolution" but I really just needed to find a way to keep the wide world posted on my little insignificant events, and to share more moments and pictures with friends and family I do not come near enough to keeping in touch with...call me a bad friend, I know. I'm working on it. Stay posted.
