Sectional Champs!
T.W. Andrews (48) vs. West Rowan (36)
No pictures tonight - intense game. They were behind for the majority of it. Love it when they get HOT!
I swear the whole population of West Rowan was in attendance. When whole southern towns attend high school basketball games it's ridiculous how juvenile grown men act. Oh well. Story for another day.
Go Red Raiders!!!
There are eight teams left...4 from the West and 4 from the East.
We'll play Wednesday and Saturday at Greensboro colosseum :)

Happy Valentime's Day
Yes, I know I spelled it wrong but I swear...no matter how many times I corrected and purposely spelled the word on Friday my students insisted it was ValentiMe's Day. So, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
Well, our celebration of Valentine's Day was somewhat minimal this year. We decided early on that our kitchen improvements were gift enough and nothing more would be expected. Scott said, "Happy Valentine's Day, I love you more than you could ever know," as we fell asleep Friday night. I had a sweet card for him to read on Saturday. That was pretty much it.
We joined Scott, Amy, Alle and Holden at the circus later that day. They were also having a gun show at the coliseum. It was quite a shocker to see men just walking around with rifles and guns.
Anyhoo, circus was great! Afterwards we headed back to Amy and Scott's to get ready for dinner. Amy and I headed over to King and Erin's (back door neighbors and Scott's beer brewing guru) to enjoy a drink while the men headed on out to Outback to do the waiting for us. We left a little while later to enjoy a wonderful dinner with wonderful company. Headed home afterwards and crashed early.
Scott kept imagining the lions "turning" and going wild. Guess the circus thinks about that too...they keep them inside a cage. We were amazed by the elephants and the amount of training their stunts took.

Kitchen Phase 1
Well, it's really about phase 5 with all the other 'stuff' we've done in there but...we'll start with today.
My kitchen officially has no coutertops. I must say, it looks quite odd.
On the plus side, don't have to open drawers to get what you need...

Oh, and we have no sink...well, it's in the side yard flipped upside down with the old countertops...
So the 1/2 bath has become dish washing central.
Now, everything that was under the sink is now on the kitchen table.
But, new countertops come TOMORROW!!!
We get our sink installed (thank you Daddy) on Sunday! Can't wait!!!

Family Math
Thought I'd share a bit of the math my students have for homework tonight...
Recognize any names?
1. Holden had 3 toy cars, 4 toy trucks, and 3 toy airplanes. He let his friend, Scott, have 1/5 of the toy vehicles. To his little brother John, he gave 3/10 of his original collection to play with for the afternoon. How many toy vehicles does Holden have left?
2. Jerry folded 3/8 of the shirts on the laundry pile. Kendra folded 1/8 of the shirts on the laundry pile. Together did they fold more than half of the shirts on the pile?
I love doing this. Sometimes I'll use the students names (and they LOVE that), sometimes it's the dog's (Bromley has even shown up once or twice), and sometimes it's 4 girls and they become my mom and her sisters.

3. 1. On vacation, the Moore family likes to go swimming in the lake. One day, Jill swam for 1 2/5 hours, Scott swam for 1 4/5 hours, Amy swam for 2 2/5 hours, and Kelly swam for a full 3 hours.
How long did Jill and Amy swim altogether?
How much longer did Amy swim than Scott?
How much longer did Kelly swim than Scott?
Did Jill and Scott combined swim longer than Kelly did? Justify your answer.
